Account, data and security
Everything about your BugOtter account: signing in, settings, turning modules off, your data and how to delete it. Read this when you want to change how BugOtter looks or behaves, or to know what it stores.
In 30 seconds
click your avatar (top right) → Settings. Account, Notifications, Connections, Agent access, and Plan and billing are all there.
Settings
- Account: your name, email, password, theme and the modules you use.
- Notifications: alert channels, the Monday digest and your timezone, and the email log. See Alerts.
- Connections: payment providers, Vercel and Search Console. See Revenue.
- Agent access: coding agents and tokens. See MCP.
- Plan and billing: your plan, usage and invoices. See Plans.
Settings for one app (rules, checks, status page, sleep, delete) are on that app's Settings tab.
Sign up with your name, email and a password (at least 8 characters), or click Continue with Google. You stay signed in for 30 days.
- Confirm your email: click the link we send. Until then a bar at the top says so, with Send the link again. The digest and account emails only go to a confirmed address.
- Forgot your password: on Sign in, click Forgot it?, enter your email, then Send the link. The link works once, for one hour.
- Change your password: Settings → Account → Change password sends the same link.
- Too many tries: after 10 sign-in attempts in 5 minutes, wait a few minutes or reset your password.
Google and an existing account
If you signed up with a password and later click Continue with Google with the same email, the two are joined. If you had confirmed that email, nothing else changes. If you hadn't, Google is now the proof the address is yours, so BugOtter keeps your apps but removes the old password, signs out every session, disconnects agents and tokens, and removes alert channels except email to that address. Sign in with Google from then on, and reconnect your agent and channels.
Modules
Not using analytics, errors or revenue? Turn it off: Settings → Account → Modules you use. Uptime is always on.
Off hides the module's tab, its Home column, its tiles and its alerts, and drops it from the digest. Nothing is deleted, and data keeps being collected, so you can turn it back on any time with nothing missing.
Look and feel
- Theme: Settings → Account → Appearance, or the avatar menu: Auto (follows your system), Light or Dark. Saved on this device.
- Analytics sections: hide the ones you don't use with Customize.
- Timezone: Settings → Notifications → Your timezone. It sets "today" on charts, the digest and quiet hours. Status pages and cron schedules use UTC.
- Keyboard: ⌘K (Ctrl+K) jumps to any app or page, and switches the theme.
Your data
- Analytics: no cookies by default and no IP addresses stored. A visitor is a hash that changes every day. Single visits are kept 90 days, then daily totals for as long as your plan's history.
- Errors: emails, API keys, tokens and JWTs are replaced with
[redacted]before storage. Users are a salted hash. - Revenue: read with read-only keys. BugOtter never charges, refunds or emails your customers.
- Keys and tokens: agent tokens are stored as a hash. Payment keys, the Vercel token and custom check headers are stored encrypted. Netlify and Cloudflare tokens are used once and never stored.
See the privacy policy for the full list.
Export your data
- CSV: Export on any analytics dashboard, per report. See Export.
- JSON: the Stats API for analytics, and MCP for everything else.
There's no one-click export of the whole account yet.
Delete
- One app: the app → Settings → Stop watching. Its history, issues and keys are deleted.
- Your account: Settings → Account → Delete my account…, type your email, then Delete everything. Every check stops, and every app with its history, issues, keys, tokens and alert channels is deleted at once. Payment providers are disconnected; nothing changes in them. This can't be undone.
